Rite a Riff

I chose to share this poem with all you viewers after attending the student remembrance of my teacher that has recently passed away.  The line that is in bold is the line that has stuck with me since then.  This poem is about sadness and anger and apologizing.

As you stare through
Candle lit ghosts
you see more
than most
riding down the coast in a car
meant to get you far
far away
as those waves crash
against the sand
rocks and teaming land
teaming with creatures
big and small
but you're staring through
A candle lit ghost
you see more than most
you see the tears
fall from her eyes
as she, the ocean, cries
cries for the lost
cries for lives lost
for those taken away
because she took them
yes, the ocean
took them away
it was a moment of anger
of madness
of sadness
of herself floating away
Picture Link
and she apologizes
with gentle winds
and waters lapping at your toes
but no one else
will ever know
because only you
stare through
those Candle lit ghosts
seeing more than most

The Third Eye Is The Clearest-
Ariel's work is exciting and makes you want to know exactly what was happening when she was feeling what she writes about.  Its intriguing and I can't wait to read more.

Till Human Voices-
Freya is sincere and show it in her writing.  She shows compassion and empathy through her writing.  It makes you want to get to know her more.

Paperclips & Applesauce-
Kayla doesn't downplay the truth to make it easier to swallow.  She is very honest and it shows in her writing.

Remember

For this assignment I chose to write a poem, again, because that is what I'm best at.  It is the best way that I am able to capture my thoughts about a subject.  It is how I will show you what remember means to me.

We are supposed to remember
remember those lost
to war, unfair, horrible, stupid war
to life, unfair, beautiful, ending life
lost to accidents, unfair, cruel, terrible accidents
to murder, unfair, horrendous, loathsome murder
We are supposed to remember
the love they've shown
the way they had grown
and the way that we loved them too
We are supposed to remember
the laughs we shared
the way they cared
even though it will
never, never be enough
to stop the tears
to give us hope
to make us forget
that they are gone
We are supposed to remember
things that our
memory will never
never be able to capture
never, never be able to do
justice, never
never be able to
remember
enough
to make us not cry
to give us faith
Never, never to remember

Forgetting

Because no matter how hard you try
there is no forgetting
no blocking the pain
that is blocking you heart from beating
that is stopping them from seeing
exactly what is wrong today...
 And that smile
that fake smile
that's really saying take the pain away
that's really crying out for help
but there is no forgetting
no blocking the pain
blocking your heart from beating
stopping them from seeing
what really is
what really is not
because no matter how hard you try
how hard you push the pain away
in seconds
in syllables
you will remember...
remember exactly the way
it was in the beginning
wondering why
you old life went spinning
spinning away
out of control
out in the cold
Because there is no forgetting...

True Beauty

And the flames dance
as if by chance
as the winds blow
to and fro
right here
in front of you
these lights glow
what do you have to show?
as if with stained glass
unless there is that
flicker of light
of light inside
you never see

the beauty

the true beauty
the true beauty that dances
beneath the surface
as if it is a furnace
that glow of beauty
like stars in the sky
my oh my
countless numbers
with that glow of beauty
and when that
glow of beauty
slows
doesn't grow
then what you aren't
will not show
it will be fake
with that ache
inside
The one without the glow of beauty
